Commands

Commands are how communication between client and server is done. All FTP servers support a standard set of commands as specified by: RFC 959. In most cases with the use of modern FTP Client software, there is no need for the user to know any of these commands. These clients handle this transparently to the user giving the user the convenience of point and click. FTP commands can be broken down into four categories:

• Access Control
• Transfer Parameters
• Service Commands
• Command Aliases
