TYPE

REPRESENTATION TYPE

The TYPE command specifies the data type you wish to transfer. There are several types that are supported. These Types are denoted by a single Telnet character. The most common types are ASCII and Binary. Other Types may or may not be supported by your server.

The following codes are valid for TYPE:

  • A - ASCII
  • I - Image(Binary)
  • L <byte size> - Local byte Byte size
  • E - EBCDIC (no longer widely used, but may exist on some older systems)
